Trivia Challenge Back at Westfield Center

Thinking caps are a must for an upcoming Trivia Challenge at the Westfield Activities Center.

Knowing buckets of useless information could make you a winner at the Trivia Challenge at the Westfield Activities Center on Thursday, May 12. The night begins with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a trivia game from 7 to 9 p.m. Get your friends invloved by having a team of up to eight people. Those who answer the most questions correctly could win a prize. The atmosphere is casual. The cost is $20 per person, which includes light fare and soft drinks. Proceeds will benefit the Penrickton Center for Blind Children.

Tips for Lilac Growers

Whether your lilacs are old or new, or if you're thinking of planting some new shrubs or trees, these tips from professionals help the sweet-smelling plants thrive.

These lilac tips come from area gardeners and landscapers: • Easy to grow. “Lilacs are one of the most easy-going of the shrubs/trees in the landscape,” said Deborah Friedman, a certified landscape designer who owns Deborah Friedman Designs in Bloomfield Hills. "They require very little care and tending to overall.” • Trim liberally. "I trim back my lilac plants in the fall, or they get crazy," says Karen Johnson, a cleaning specialist/team leader for Ask Alice Cleaning in Troy. Dance Factory Students to Return to Trenton Mid-Summer Festival

Winning a recent competition in Novi is just one of the many accomplishments achieved by the dancers at Lisa's Dance Factory in Woodhaven.

Lisa Sisco, 42, started dancing when she was 18 months old and many of her students can claim the same. Sisco owns Lisa's Dance Factory in Woodhaven and her dance crew has agreed to be featured dancers in the Trenton Mid-Summer Festival. Her team recently won first, second, third and honorable mention in a number of categories at a recent dance competition in Novi where judges sifted through 300 dance numbers before choosing winners. Dancers from toddlers to adults competed including students from Trenton, Brownstown-Township and Woodhaven. Sisco's first place squad was a group of energetic and highly motivated 9 to 12-year-old girls who competed in the hip hop category. Sisco credits her success in competitions to her positive …

Bank of America Cardholders Get Free Museum Admission

A photo ID and a valid Bank of America/Merrill Lynch credit or debit card will get you in to several museums for free.

If you're a Bank of America cardholder, clear your schedule this weekend: The national bank is hosting a program aimed to remove the burden of ticket prices from those wishing to visit local museums. Museums On Us takes place May 5-6. During the weekend, Bank of America cardholders nationwide will have the chance to visit more than 150 museums for free. In Metro Detroit, that includes the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Detroit Children’s Museum, the Detroit Historical Museum, the Detroit Science Center, the Flint Institute of Arts and the Motown Museum. Wedding Dresses Through Time at Trenton Historical Museum

The Trenton Historical Museum has wedding dresses on display from before 1960.

Ever wonder what women wore on their wedding day in the early 1900s? Find out at the Trenton Historical Museum. Now through July, the museum will be displaying wedding dresses from before 1960. Behind-the-Scenes Peek at One Magnificent Mansion

Metro Detroit interior designers and volunteers aplenty prepare to wow tourgoers this May at the Junior League of Detroit Show House.

In a couple of weeks, the Junior League of Detroit (JLD) will open the doors to its 2012 Designers’ Show House, located at 22 Webber Place in Grosse Pointe Shores. The house will also feature fully landscaped gardens, a boutique, café and a greenery garden area, with items for sale.   For several weeks, dozens of interior designers, painters, electricians, maintenance professionals, boutique staff and more have been coming and going at the massive 10,304-square-foot house, which was built in 1928 as the home of Oscar Webber, nephew of Joseph L. Trenton Ladies Get Second Chance at Upcoming Mom Prom

Moms get a second chance at prom with the Trenton Rotary Club's Mom Prom at the Westfield Activities Center.

Tear your dress? Fall down the stairs while making your grand entrance? Not to worry. The Trenton Rotary Club is holding their debut Mom Prom, where moms from all over Downriver get one more shot at making prom night a night to remember. The five-hour event begins at 7 p.m. at the Westfield Activities Center in Trenton. Moms will have a chance to re-do actvities they may have missed or flubbed the first time around including picture oportunities with celebrities and photo booths. Male members of the Rotary club will be on hand to serve the ladies refreshments and act as dancing partners--if needed.
