Tim and Jan Debacker own Debacker Lawn Care in Trenton and a recent fatal crash left them with a soon-to-be demolished building.
A local business owner said a fatal car crash that took place early Wednesday morning would lead to the demolition of a large building on his property on Fort Street. "I woke up to the bang," Trenton business owner Tim Debacker said. A 50-year-old Taylor man died after he attempted to elude police and crashed his car into one of Debacker's buildings at a high rate of speed. Tim and Jan Debacker have owned Debacker Lawn Care for nearly 25 years and have operated out of their current location, 2501 Fort Street, for 17 years. The two said the building has been hit before. In 2009, a drunken driver crashed into the building causing slightly less damage. There was no structure damage found at that time. After Wednesday's crash, Debacker said a …

Trenton Police Chief Jim Nardone said the crash happened early Wednesday morning.
A 50-year-old Taylor man believed to have robbed a Gibraltar gas station is dead after crashing his car into a building at Debacker Lawn Care at about 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, while attempting to flee from police. Trenton police received a call from a citizen that a man and vehicle matching the description of a man suspected of robbing a Sunoco, 28975 W Jefferson Ave, moments before had pulled into the Future Fuels parking lot on Fort Street. Trenton's K-9 Unit responded to the call. As the officer pulled into the parking lot the man drove his black 2000 Ford Escort out of the parking lot and onto Fort Street at a high rate of speed according to Chief Jim Nardone. City officials will present the 2012-13 budget proposal to Trenton City Council members for approval on May 21.
One of the strongest points in the 2012-13 budget proposal is the fact that there are no lay offs according to Trenton City Administrator Jim Wagner. The budget proposal will be presented to Trenton City Council members for approval on May 21 at Trenton City Hall. Wagner said city officials and council members were able to come to an agreement on several issues, resulting in a balanced budget at a public budget hearing Monday night. "We worked together as a team," Wagner said. "Mayor Pro-tem (Terrence Teifer) did a very commendable job in bringing all of us together." The budget requires taking $250,000 from the fund balance, but Wagner said the important thing is that people get to keep their jobs. "We made some general fund assumptions …
