Ceremony for Trenton Wall of Fame Tonight

A ceremony for the Trenton Educational Foundation's Wall of Fame is scheduled for tonight at Trenton High School.

A dedication ceremony for the three inductees of the Trenton Educational Foundation Wall of Fame is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the main lobby at Trenton High School. Members of the Trenton Educational Foundation and Trenton Board of Education will be on site for the ceremony. A meeting for the foundation will follow the ceremony scheduled to end at 7 p.m.

Trenton High School students took over the city for a few hours on Tuesday.

For a few hours Tuesday morning, Trenton High School students took over the reigns of Trenton City Hall and, with the help of city officials, managed to keep the city running as smoothly as ever. Trenton students participated in student government day, when high school students take on the roles of city officials and learn what it's like to run a city. Trenton Mayor Kyle Stack welcomed students in the lobby at city hall, where snacks and refreshments awaited the future leaders. Students were assigned specific city positions ranging from mayor to clerk, city council to city administrator and everything in between. Eight Trenton Teachers Receive Pink Slips

Trenton Board of Education members voted in favor of handing eight teachers pink slips Monday night.

Trenton Board of Education members voted unanimously to lay-off eight teachers for the 2012-13 school year at the regularly scheduled board of education meeting Monday night. The reduction of teacher personnel goes into effect at the conclusion of the school day on June 14. There are three general education, two special education and one hearing impaired teachers included in the reduction of staff. According to interim Superintendent Larry Leapley the staff reduction would result in class sizes of 29-32 students per class at Trenton High School and Boyd W. Arthurs Middle School and 25-28 at the elementary schools. Board members also approved a resolution to call back the laid-off teachers as needed based upon the economic conditions of the…

Trenton's 'Top Ten' Students Honored at Board of Education

Trenton High School's "Top Ten" students were recognized at the Trenton Board of Education.

Trenton High School’s "Top Ten" graduating seniors were recognized at the regularly scheduled board of education meeting Monday night. Students and parents filled the audience seats at the Board of Education building, while Trenton High School principal Michael Doyle called on each student to be recognized by board members and receive certificates of their achievement. The "Top Ten" students who were present said they were headed to a number of different schools and professions: Trenton's "Top Ten" are: Board President Mike Hawkins said it was great to have a point of pride in the "Top Ten" students at Trenton Public Schools. Class of 2013 Fundraisers Coming This Week

The Trenton High School Class of 2013 are holding two fundraisers in Woodhaven this week.

Trenton High School students graduating in 2013 are having two fundraisers this week at two different locations in Woodhaven. The first fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, May 17 at Stevi B's Pizza Buffet on West Road in Woodhaven. Mention the Class of 2013 and Stevi B's will donate a portion of the proceeds to the graduating class. The second fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20 at fiVe BELoW on West Road in Woodhaven. A flyer must be used at the time of purchase, which can be found at the main office at Trenton High School.

Trenton Mock Trial Team Lunch With Local Judges

Trenton High School students took 11th place in a regional mock trial in March.

As a reward for their hard work and placing 11th in a regional mock trial, Trenton High School students had lunch with two 33rd District Court judges Thursday. Nine students participated in the 2012 Pontiac Regional Michigan High School Mock Trial Tournament in March. Teacher and coach Dan Taylor said this was just the first year the high school competed in the competition and was proud of his team and their success. The students shared pizza and pop with judges Michael McNally and Jennifer Coleman Hesson in the jury assembly room at the courthouse. The students said they prepared for the competition by identifying evidence and asking questions to get to get to the bottom of the mock murder trial. "What you really try to do is trick them …

Trenton Christian Preschool Brings Fashion to the Classroom

Students of Trenton Christian Preschool put on their favorite clothes and costumes for a fashion show Friday to honor their mothers and grandmothers for Mother's Day. The event was a part of the Mother's Day Tea celebration at the preschool. Guests sat quietly as students walked down the catwalk and showed off their outfits, while a preschool teacher announced who and what they were wearing. Mothers and grandmothers alike cheered for each student, and the morning ended with a light brunch of juice, cheese and crackers and cookies. Trenton Preschool to Host Mother's Day Tea

Mothers of students at Trenton Christian Preschool are invited to a Mother's Day tea party Friday.

Students at Trenton Christian Preschool are preparing for a Mother's Day tea party on Friday. Students' mothers and grandmothers are invited to enjoy tea and a fashion show and a program of special songs, both performed by the students. After the show, students and guests of honor can enjoy light snacks like fruit salad, cheese and crackers and cookies. Mayor and Council Honor Trenton High School's 'Top Ten'

The "Top Ten" graduating seniors were honored Monday night at Trenton City Hall.

"This is a great day in Trenton with all these "Top Ten" students...that's for sure," Mayor Kyle Stack said. Stack and city council members honored Trenton High School’s “Top Ten” students, of which there are 11, Monday night during the regularly scheduled city council meeting. Students were called up to the front of council chambers, one-by-one, and asked to state their names and their future field of study in college. AP Students Lock Themselves Down to Study, Bond

Trenton High School advanced placement students listened to lectures and played educational games.

While many Trenton High School students were making last minute arrangements for prom, a handful of students were locked in the high school studying Friday night. The advanced placement students had a lock-in at the high school to study for the advanced placement exams beginning Monday and ending Friday, May 18. The students participated in four 40-minute study sessions from 5:30 to 8:10 p.m. with a short break for games and ice cream. Several teachers participated in the lock-in, as well.
